First Time Guest Letter
Dear Julia,
In ancient times, there was a prayer for "The Stranger
Within Our Gates."
It was our pleasure to have you visit our church and though
you may not have been here before, you were not a stranger but an honored guest. We hope
your experience was positive and that you left inspired.
We who arrived here first did so in order that this place
would be warm and friendly--and alive with the presence of God when you came. We hope you
found it so, and that you were comfortable in our midst. We wanted you to feel as peaceful
and happy as if you were in your own home. We hope that the inspiration that brought you
here will cause you to return.
In the meantime, it is our prayer that these days will be
pleasant for you, that God will fill you with the courage to face all things, grant you
the strength to help those you meet and cause your life to be a joy to those who know and
love you best.
With love and blessings,
Wendy Craig-Purcell
Minister
(Note: Special thanks to the late Reverend Jack Boland, Warren,
MI, for sharing this welcome letter)

Third Time Guest Letter
Dear Julia,
I want to acknowledge your recent visits to Church of Today
and tell you how honored I am that youve been attending. Because there are so many
things to do on a Sunday morning, I dont take lightly the time youve been
spending with us.
When I was introduced to Unity, I found a Spiritual Path
that made sense to me. I found a Path that teaches there is one God; but many ways to find
that one God. I found a Path that did not insult my intelligence, that affirmed my
intrinsic worth while helping me to overcome my shortcomings, that encouraged me to
stretch toward my goals and that did not manipulate me with fear or guilt.
As Ive grown in my understanding of God and in the
practice of spiritual principles, my life has really changed. There is no emptiness or
haunting feeling that something is missing. There is meaning and purpose and a tremendous
sense of contentment. My life is working better than it ever has before.
As you explore and deepen your own spirituality, I believe
you will experience this, too.
There is one God, called by many different names and found
through many different Paths. Whichever Path leads you to a greater understanding of God,
is the right Path for you. I hope you find that Path here at Church of Today!
Sincerely,
Wendy Craig-Purcell
Minister
