The Prayer Class

The Prayer Class has been developed and presented by the Church of Today Prayer Ministry for two reasons:

  1. As a means of supporting members of our church family in becoming comfortable with prayer and developing a closer relationship with God.

  2. To provide those who wish to become members of the Prayer Ministry with a solid grounding in the principles and practices of prayer, so that they may have the confidence and skills necessary to offer spiritual support to our congregation.

The class is taught one evening a week for four successive weeks by the Prayer Ministry Co-directors, Loreen Blume' and David Newbold. Multimedia is used to project slides throughout the class to help focus attention and expedite retention. If you don't have Microsoft Powerpoint, click on this link: slide text for the text-only version.

The class is divided up into small groups of 6 with a Prayer Ministry member in charge of each group. The groups hold discussions and practice exercises which facilitate learning. Class size has gradually increased from 30 to 130 since 1995.

In this page, we have included the Prayer Class Manual which you can access in full if you have Microsoft Word, or you can access the text only if you do not.
