Service Ministries
Service ministries are a vital part of our Church's ability to function effectively and to cover all that needs to be done. However, these ministries are also essential for spiritual growth, and if congregants are going to derive the growth that they need in order to live happier, more fulfilling lives, they need to be performing meaningful service on a scale that makes a difference in their lives. A commitment to service also helps them to integrate and develop friends in the church which results in a more satisfying church experience and thus a commitment to stay and grow with the church. On this page we provide you with ideas regarding how to encourage people to become involved in service and to help them get the most out of their service commitments. One of the best ways to feel connected to a large and growing church is to become involved. The Church of Today offers many different Service Ministries to fit your schedule and would love to have you be a part of them. Below are the different ministries and a brief description of each. These Ministries have different rotations for serving, so please let us know which one is of interest to you and we’ll be happy to give you further information.
Sharing Unity Ministry This Ministry has a table on the patio each Sunday. It’s purpose is to have readily available for distribution, to both members and all people who attend the church, the various materials we have produced that serve to provide information about Unity and The Church of Today. Time commitment: Sunday mornings: 30 minutes before or after each service.
World Wide Web Ministry Anyone who enjoys creating Web pages . . . we need your help. The Church of Today has it’s own Web Site and we are wanting to upgrade the pages. Time Commitment: Varies and is flexible. Ambassador Ministry The purpose of the Ambassador Ministry is to welcome guests and members each Sunday morning in a warm, loving and friendly manner, as well as to answer questions people may have about the church, it’s activities and give directions. Time commitment: Sunday mornings: 30 minutes before or after each service.
Ushering Ministry Each Sunday morning you are greeted at the doors by smiling faces. Our Ushering Ministry is here to help you feel welcome, greet you as you arrive, hand you your program, hand out first time visitor packs and collect the love offering during the service. They are the first people you come in contact with on a Sunday morning and help to set the tone for the service. Time commitments: 45 minutes prior to each service and at specific times during the service.
Hospitality Ministry Our Hospitality Ministry prepares the coffee and light snacks that we enjoy after each service. They also help at many of the large Learning Annex events by preparing the coffee and water table before the event begins. Time commitments: 1 hour before each service and help with take down after second.
Youth and Family Ministry We have a dynamic Sunday School program with over 100 children in attendance each Sunday. Our teaching staff is made up of very committed church members who have a love of children and teaching. We are always in need of classroom assistants who can help to touch the lives of our youth. Time commitments: Once or twice a month on Sunday mornings at either service – all age groups.
Bookstore Ministry We have a wonderful bookstore filled with inspirational, motivational and self-help books and tapes. Our Bookstore Ministry helps to ring up sales on Sunday mornings, answer
Loving Hands Ministry Each Sunday our family members receive a program to inform them of new and exciting things taking place at The Church of Today. Members also receive our special mailings. This all happens by way of members of our Loving Hands Ministry, who come in during the week to help put together the Sunday program and special mailings. Time commitments: Loving Hands meet every Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m.
SCRIP Ministry Our church family benefits each time someone purchases scrip to buy their groceries with. Our SCRIP Ministry is responsible for selling SCRIP on the patio each Sunday. Time commitments: 30 minutes before or after each service.
Health and Wellness Ministry The purpose of the Wellness Center is to provide educational support in the areas of health and wellness to our congregation and is done through ongoing classes, seminars, and their information table located on the patio on Sunday mornings. Time commitment: 30 minutes before or after each service to help at the information table.
